With the latest version of Facebook application for your Smartphones, now you have an option to automatically upload your pictures without any user intervention.
Now, don't worry about the privacy of your pictures as Mark Zuckerberg is smart and careful enough towards the privacy of Facebook users. Hence, this option is not enabled by default and needs to be enabled manually if you want to do so.
However, even after enabling this option, you do not need to worry at all about the privacy of your personal pictures as by default all your images will be synced or uploaded into a Private folder and hence no one, absolutely no one, will be able to see those images. Whenever you want to share any of those images with your friends and family, you would need to login into your Facebook account and make the respective image Public after which it will be viewable to your friends and family. Another thing to remember is that current version of Facebook application for your phone will not give you an option to change the Privacy setting of any of these pictures directly through the application and you will only be able to do so by logging into your Facebook account through your phone browser or through your computer browser. Additionally, you would never be able to change the Privacy of this folder permanently to Public in case you decide to share all your images by default and do not want to keep any of them Private by default.
Enabling this option in your Facebook application is definitely worth as this will ensure that you would always have backup of all your pictures in your Facebook account in case you lose your phone or in case of any unforeseen issues with your phone. Unless, you are one of those persons who always have a backup of their important data, I would recommend to use this latest feature of Facebook.
Another good thing is that you would not have to manually upload the pictures that you want to share with your friends as all your pictures will already be there in your "Synced from Phone" folder. You just need to select the respective picture/pictures and click the "Share Photos" button!
The only thing that you should realize that it will hog lot of Internet Data and for users like me who have plans like "Free up to 3GB" this may end that limit very soon especially of you have an 8 or more Megapixels phone where every image clicked is more then 8MB.

- Launch your Facebook application
- Go into your profile and click Images
- Now, click on the Synced option and the bottom
- Here, you need to click on the gear icon on the top right
- This should bring up 3 options for you that are pretty self explanatory - "Sync over Wi-fi or Cellular", "Sync over Wi-fi only" and "Don't sync my photos"
- Select the Wi-fi only option if your phone connects to a Wi-fi connection once in a day or two as this will help you save on your phone internet data bills
- Below these, there's another useful option like "Sync All Photos" which you should check for the very first time only as this will upload all your current pictures into your Facebook account
- After that, this option should always remain UNCHECKED as that will make the application only sync new pictures that come into your phone.
- In case, you keep this option checked, them please remember that this being a Sync Service will also remove the pictures from your facebook account that you remove from your phone because s you know, this is a Sync feature and not a Back up feature
